This year marks the 30th year that Annie Sprinkle has been exploring
sexuality in all of it’s most glorious (and inglorious) forms. From her
beginnings as an evolving, sexually curious starlet in pornographic films to her growth as a groundbreaking performance artist, she has
shared what she has learned through film making, writing,
photography, artwork, teaching workshops, and performing. Her fine art photography has been shown in galleries internationally, and this will be the first
solo exhibition of her photographs in the U.S. "I love the honesty of Annie's work. The unapologetic documentation of the sex industry, stemming from her unique insider status, is fascinating. From candid shots on porn film sets to images of pimps on the streets of NYC, to her newer portrait series of Polaroid Transfers, Annie's camera slips quietly into a behind the scenes world very few photographers can access or understand. Her photography has been long under appreciated." - Rebecca Ames, Curator Museum of Sex, New York City |
